Why name values if you can’t live them?

Township’s philosophy and approach to our values.

Values can be baloney. Too harsh? None of us want that to be true—but it can be. People write them for their organizations because values are innately human. We want anchor points to check ourselves against. But, living them out as an organization is the harder part. Timelines. Bottom lines. The storylines that we tell ourselves about how we have to play to win. There are a lot of barriers to holding true to company values. We try our best for exactly zero of those walls to block us from living up to our values at Township.

Do we always get things exactly right? Of course not. Yet, from day one, we established a culture of accountability around being people first. 

It starts within.

Township is people first, period. We created Township⤤ to be a workplace where employee wellbeing and happiness is a priority and non-negotiable standard. This principle extends to our clients as well. Many of our multi-year partners place emphasis on a healthy working relationship and the commitment of our team as what makes us who we are, and why they work with us.

While we’ve written out versions of values in the past, we’ve mainly focused on the doing, learning, and iterating. We recently took a beat to pause and reflect. We realized we were ready to have another go at naming the things we want to keep proactively doing so we can have accountability conversations with them when times get tough.

We’ll be sharing more on how these values come to life in tangible ways for our employees and our client partners. For now, have a read. And please, hold us to them.
